Green Pepper Stuffed Fritters/vibsk-29

1. | Boiled Potatoes | : | 3 medium size |
2. | Gram Flour | : | 150 g |
3. | Green Peppers | : | 7-8 |
4. | Cumin Seeds | : | 1 tsp |
5. | Salt | : | To taste |
6. | Coriander Powder | : | 4 tsp |
7. | Fresh Coriander Leaves | : | 1 small bowl (finely chopped) |
8. | Asafoetida | : | 1 tsp |
9. | Red Chilli Powder | : | 2 tsp |
10. | Carom Seeds | : | 1/2t sp |
11. | Onion | : | 1 medium size (finely chopped) |
12. | Dry Mango Powder | : | 1 tsp |
13. | Oil | : | For deep fry |
Method:
- Mash the boiled potatoes and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When it starts cracking, bring down the flame to low and add coriander powder, asafetida and red chilli powder. Stir.
- When masala is roasted, add mashed potatoes. Mix well.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add salt, onions and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Take the stuffing off the flame and add dry mango powder or chaat-masala (optional). Mix well. Stuffing is ready.
- Slit the pepper (from top to end) remove all the seeds.
- Now, stuff all the peppers with potato stuffing. Keep aside.
- Add carom seeds, salt and red chilli powder to gram flour. Mix well.
- Add water and make batter of thick consistency.
- On high flame, heat oil in a deep pan for deep frying. When oil is hot enough for frying, bring down the flame to medium.
- Now, dip the stuffed peppers one by one in gram flour batter and slide carefully in the heated oil.
- Don’t put all the peppers at one go. Once 2-3 stuffed peppers are in the oil, stir and let the batter settle a little.
- Then, add more stuffed peppers to the pan. Fry till fritters are golden brown.
Serve hot with tea and sauce/tamarind chutney/mint chutney.
