Turnip Bharta (Mashed Turnip)/vibsk-46

7. | Garam Masala | : | 1 tsp |
8. | Coriander Powder | : | 1 tsp |
9. | Asafoetida | : | ½ tsp |
10. | Red Chilli Powder | : | 1 tsp |
11. | Mustard Seeds | : | ½ tsp |
12. | Cumin Seeds | : | ½ tsp |
13. | Ginger-Garlic Paste | : | 2 tsp |
14. | Salt | : | To taste |
15. | Oil | : | 1 tbsp |
Method:
- Peel the turnips and cut them in big pieces.
- Add ¼ cup of water & boil the turnips in pressure cooker till 1 whistle.
- Heat the oil in a wok. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies and ginger-garlic paste. Roast.
- Add asafoetida and stir. Add coriander powder and garam masala. Stir and roast for ½ minute.
- Add onions and cook till onions are soft. Roast masala on medium flame.
- Mash the boiled turnip and keep aside.
- Onions are roasted, add turmeric powder. Stir.
- Add tomatoes. When tomatoes are soft and mushy, add mashed turnip. Mix well.
- Bring the flame to low. Add salt and mix well.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes. Turnip Bharta is ready. Take it off the flame.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot with Puri/Paratha/Chapati.
